You Speak English? Great – Then You Know Spanish!

gemelos (hay-MAY-lohs) twins

No. Not these Spanish Twins.

Red Angle will release its first book in four weeks and its title is Spanish Twins: Start Speaking Spanish on the Construction Site with Words You Already Know.

Spanish Twins: Coming this Octubre

But what the hell is a Spanish Twin?

Good question.

A Spanish Twin is word that is either identical or nearly identical in both English and Spanish. It’s a word you know how to say in Spanish – even if you are firmly entrenched in English monolingualism.

It’s Red Angle short-hand for saying, “If you know English, then you know Spanish.

With this in mind, I did a little experiment. I took a screenshot of my default web page – CNN México – and tallied up the number of Spanish Twins. Guess how many there were….

20? Nope.

30? Nope.

40? Nope.

I counted 43, but it was late when I originally counted. Today I saw several more.

If you know English, you know CNN Spanish.
