With March 1st upon us already, it’s high time we cover a trio of time-related 3-letter words. 3-letter words aren’t nearly as common in Spanish as they are in English, so this time-sensitive triumvirate is rather exciting for us nerds at Red Angle.

The Días (DEE-ahs) - Boris & Doris

DAY :: DÍA :: (DEE-ah)

If you flip the letters around and spelled it “DYA,” the pronunciation (DEE-ah) isn’t too farfetched. Or think of Doris Día. Or her NBA-playing grandson, Boris Día.

(If this was too far-fetched… Doris Day :: Boris Diaw)

Willie MES Hayes

For MES, think of Willie Month Hayes from the timeless baseball flick, Major Liga. Or think of spraying an intruder with your can of Month Pepper Spray.

MES Pepper Spray

YEAR :: AÑO :: (AHN-yoh)

Think of the “Anno 1366” on the label of Stella Artois, citing the birthdate of dear sweet Stella. Or if beer isn’t religious enough for you, think of the Latin phrase “Anno Domini” or “In the YEAR of the Lord.
