It’s finally here.
In 223 days, we will finally crown a true college football champion… by teams actually playing each other.
(Well, 4 of them, at least.)
Every professional sport crowns a champion via playoff bracket.
Same with college sports… with the notable exception of football – the most profitable college sport.
College football has traditionally used a polling method of 167 people (“Yes… we need exactly 167 humans for this!”) and a bumbling blend of six computer rankings (“Yes… we need exactly six computational devices!”).
To make you angry.
And to make a bunch of old white guys rich.
But now it’s here.
College football has a playoff system.
It starts in 223 days.
Now imagine this college football playoff happened only once every 4 years…
It would be the Olympics of college football.
Imagine how insane it would be during the playoffs.
Imagine making up excuses to miss work (“umm, acute digestive problems”).
Imagine rationalizing a $1200 Pasadena plane ticket to your wife (“This will never happen again, baby! And you know how expensive jet fuel is!”)
Now imagine if instead of your entire household, your entire country was rooting alongside with you.
Imagine that… and it gets close to the importance of the World Cup.
Fútbol… not football.
For everyone on Earth, except us Americans, the World Cup is at least that big.
For Spanish-speakers, it’s a HUGE deal.
If you sell to Spanish-speakers, ignoring the World Cup is like ignoring the Olympic College Football Playoff.
If you care about your customers, you care about what they care about.
If you ignore what your customers care about, they will ignore you.
Sooner or later…
In 19 days, the global fútbol playoff is starting.
The World Cup.
How are you capitalizing on this event to help your business?
Red Angle is helping our Clients leverage the World Cup into stronger relationships, increased sales and increased attention. We’ve designed an original soccer tee targeting Mexican customers and employees.
Why only Mexico?
After Mexico (65% of Hispanics in U.S.), the next largest World Cup-qualifying nationality present in the U.S. is Colombia.
1.9% of Hispanics here are Colombian.
1.9% = no shirt.
And why not make a U.S. soccer tee?
A Red Angle Client asked the same thing.
“We can make one… no problem.” I said. “How many do you want for your gringo soccer-loving customers?”
“Well… none of my customers are soccer fans.”
We’ll surely jump on the bandwagon when Team U.S.A. make the Final Four.
So think fútbol… not football.
Mexico plays their first game on Friday, June 13th.
Are you ready for some fútbol?
Bradley Hartmann is founder and El Presidente at Red Angle (www.redanglespanish.com). If you’re interested in t-shirts for your Spanish-speaking customers, the tees are $15 each. If you want to order 10,000 or more… the price will probably go down. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
